“Strengthen the Triskelion Alumni to Attain our Goal for Supremacy”

14 August 2009

To: All Triskelion Alumni in Mindanao

Dearest Brods & Sis:

Triskelion Greetings!

For the past 8 years that Triskelion de Mindanao had been in order, it was observed that only few Alumni Triskelions attended the conventions and meetings in spite of the fact that we comprise the majority of the entire Triskelion Family. Based on the feedback, the most common reason why many alumni hesitate to attend is because they always thought that Fraternity gatherings like conventions are only fitted for the undergraduate members and not for Alumni. Although we always express that our Fraternity is a Fraternity for life but this existing hesitation from the Alumni Brothers and Sisters is seemingly inevitable.

It is of this reason why numerous discussions were focused on how to consolidate the Triskelion Alumni and tap its enormous potentials for the attainment of our goal for Supremacy. That is why we endeavored to get feedback from different chapters in Mindanao and it was arrived that there is indeed a need to call for a Triskelion Alumni Summit.

We are indeed very lucky since one of our Founding Fathers is from Mindanao, and that is Bro. Talek J. Pablo, MDG, a son of Midasayap, North Cotabato. He enjoins us as one of the convenors of this event and he also convinced another Founding Father to be our Keynote Speaker and that is Bro. Rodolfo S. Confesor, MDG. This is the first in Mindanao History that two Founding Fathers will be present in a single event.

The 1st Mindanao Triskelion Alumni Summit will dwell on the Vision, Mission and Goals of this particular event (Please see attached page for the copy).

Fellow Triskelion Alumni, it is time for us to consolidate and integrate our different skills, knowledge, and resources to finally galvanize our claim for Supremacy. It is time for us to act according to the dictate of our Triskelion Spirit who has been continuously whispering in our ears. It is time for us to meet and finally establish an effective Triskelion Business Network and build stronger chapters and councils all over Mindanao. Please come and attend the First Mindanao Triskelion Alumni Summit on September 26, 2009 at Harbor Lights Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City.

The Stages of Triskelion Alumni

June 9th, 2009 by TDM

By: Bro. Mitchell L. Flores, MDG

In my recent visit in Metro Manila, I had a chance to have a great conversation with Brod Ralph Barin, MDG of UP Diliman, batch 74′. I stayed at his house during that visit and we had an exciting exchange of ideas together with Brod Manny Gorospe, MDG. We covered almost everything about the fraternity, from the negative to the positive, but what struck me the most was when Brod Ralph shared his ideas about the stages of a Triskelion Alumnus.

Many times over, I’ve heard lots of complaints against our Triskelion Alumni. Complaints like: “Where were they during the dark days?” , or “Bakit ngayon lang kayo sumipot?” , or “Saan kayo nung kailangan namin kayo?”, or “Wala na silang pakialam ngayon sa Frat” , and many more similar complaints. I was once thinking the same way, asking too many questions on the whereabouts of the Alumni. However, I felt so relieved when I heard the response of Brod Ralph Barin regarding these issues. He said that most Alumni during the 70’s and 80’s were still in a stage of building-up their respective careers, and time was truly a luxury for them. Like
himself he said, when he graduated from college, nurtured with the aim to Excel, he immediately looked for a job, and during those days as a young alumnus, he doesn’t have the control of his time but his boss. He can’t be absent from work and whenever requested to make overtime, he can’t refuse in order to please his employer. The hurdle doesn’t end there, because when he got married, the more that he needed to work harder for the sake of his family. Then kids came and in a period where he had to make plans for their future, trying to create a blueprint out of it. And after those long years of personal struggles, he said that he’s now at a point of being stable, financially and psychologically. And it’s only now that he has control of his time; that’s why he is now coming back for the Fraternity.

On the other hand, we are all aware that there were also many Triskelion Alumni who sacrificed their careers for the sake of the Fraternity. I have to mention a few, like Brod Hernando Guevarra who made the ultimate sacrifice; Brod Boying Sudla, who spent his young years in prison, convicted of crime he didn’t commit, but never pointed his fingers to the concerned brothers; Brod Dodong Encanto, Brod Manny Gorospe, including Brod Boy Limbago and Brod Mike Molino, are some of the Triskelion Alumni whom we can consider to have sacrificed their chances to build-up their careers for the sake of the Fraternity. There are many more brothers like them, and for that alone, we are obliged to show them our appreciations.

But we have to be equally thankful for the Triskelion Brothers who have chosen to spend time in building-up their careers, because if they did otherwise, we won’t have Brothers now like: Sen. Ralph Recto, Cong. Raffy Nantes, Sultan Jerry Laut, Mayor Jim Salliman, Mayor Bong Teves, Atty. Monching Ocampo, Engr. Ralph Barin, Engr. Cesar Mercado, Brod Dod Peralta, our Four Founding Fathers, the members of the Triskelion Chamber of Commerce, and many many more.

Yes, we have to be thankful in spite of their long absence because they are now coming back; stronger, rejuvenated, and fully evolved.

Therefore we can consider at least three stages of the Triskelion

Alumni:

1) The Commencement Stage;
2) The Building-up Stage; and
3) The Stability Stage.

The Commencement Stage - is where a newly graduated Alumnus just had the first job and receiving a minimum wage but doesn’t have control of his time. This is the stage where one is still testing the waters and trying to please his superiors by rising-up to every challenge at hand; trying to make an impression and make a name to be respected.

The Building-up Stage – is where an Alumnus is earning fairly but still trying to make a blueprint of his life. The future is still cloudy at this point and this is where one is thinking of having a family. Time is still very luxurious at this stage but can spare some of it for the Fraternity in one time or another. Physical presence and participation in the Fraternity are very slim, and we can’t expect a lot of it at this point. This is the time where a Triskelion Alumnus has to exert all efforts to excel in his chosen field of interest and endeavor.

The Stability Stage – is where an Alumnus has completed the Blueprint of his life and already financially and psychologically stable. He can already calculate the outcome and the consequences of his actions. This is the stage where a Triskelion Alumnus is capable of spending an entire day for the fraternity without the danger of compromising his family. This is the stage where a Triskelion Alumnus has to come back for the Fraternity

The official website of Triskelion de Mindanao

November 1st, 2008 by tgpiligan

Welcome to the official website of Triskelion de Mindanao. The Triskelion de Mindanao is a united front unifying and consolidating all Mindanao Triskelions.  This umbrella organization of the Tau Gamma Phi Fraternity, the Tau Gamma Sigma Sorority and the Triskelion Alumni Organization, is strategically tasked primarily to ” Advanced the Interest of the Mindanao Triskelions” in all fronts.

TdM identified its central task, that is, “Consolidating the Triskelion Forces in the Land of Promise”. As the first and foremost step to undertake the general call, a Mindanao island-wide census of Triskelions will be launched. This will pave way in the assignment of a permanent number for each one of us in the jurisdiction.

Triskelion de Mindanao is not Tau Gamma Phi

November 1st, 2008 by tgpiligan

Triskelion de Mindanao is not Tau Gamma Phi because we firmly believe that Tau Gamma Phi resides in the Chapters. In other words, each and every chapter is Tau Gamma Phi itself; operating independently from each other however bonded in one spirit since each chapter adheres to the same Tenets and Code of Conduct.

Triskelion de Mindanao is simply an umbrella organization of all Triskelion Entities in Mindanao, to wit: Tau Gamma Phi Chapters, Tau Gamma Sigma Chapters, and Triskelion Alumni Organizations. It does not exercise Governing Power but we only exercise Remedial Power, which is basically inherent in nature and bestowed by the Tenets and Code of Conduct.

Triskelion de Mindanao advocates the empowerment of the Chapters and emphasizes the governing power of the Grand Triskelions. We instill in the minds of the brods and sis that each and every chapter has to responsibly govern itself in order to attain supremacy in their respective territories. However, although independent in governance, each chapter must observe accountability to the name Tau Gamma Phi because no chapter has the sole right to the name Tau Gamma Phi. This is where the remedial power of Triskelion de Mindanao comes in. Basically it is to ensure that each chapter must live within the boundaries of the Tenets and Code Conduct.

Hopefully in the future, if ever we come up with one constitution to govern the entire Triskelion forces. We in Triskelion de Mindanao strongly suggest that it has to be a Federal Type of Government wherein the Chapters will remain to be governing units and the Grand Triskelions can still exercise governing power.

Strong chapters make strong councils, and will definitely make a strong Fraternity Worldwide.
